Work begins at Sietsema's turkey waste facility.

On Monday, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) approved an air quality permit and construction is now under way on a $3 million biomass facility to convert turkey waste into steam and electric energy for feed production.

Saginaw County leaders are looking at ways to turn trash into cash.

Officials from the County Board of Commissioners, Chamber of Commerce and Saginaw Future Inc. listened Monday as executives from Troy-based Aarell Co. introduced its technology to bring a renewable energy operation here in hopes of generating revenue for the area.

Heat Transfer International, Inc. – 8/26/08 The Michigan Public Service commission has awarded Heat Transfer International (HTI) $2,292,100 to create and operate a biomass gasification center to facilitate the construction of new biomass/waste (Biomass/Waste: animal manure, forestry product residues, municipal solid waste and construction waste) to energy sites.
